subject Recyclig spent poly tank
Dear Permaplas
I notice you manufacture poly rainwater tanks and wondered if you could help me.
I want to buy a poly tank but before doing so would like to know if it can be recycled when it eventually is broken down by sunlight. I want to think I would be doing the right thing by the environment and that it will be recycled at the end.
Also how long can I expect a tank to last before it needs replacing? Some manufacturers give a 25 year guarantee while others only 10 years. There seems to be a big difference here and I am a bit confused - one suggests I might get 25+ years while the other only 10+ years. Can you shed any light on this?
Thanks for your help

RE: Recycling spent poly tank

Dear Don,
Sorry for the delay we have had some family issues which we had to be away for. In answer to your question , we are only a new business we use a polyethylene called Rotathene which is manufactured by Vanglobe it contains adequate stabilisation to ensure long term protection of the polyethylene from UV radiation.
There are many manufactures of polyethylene and I believe that the variations in guarantee would come from these manufactures as to the amount of stabilisation material to polyethylene.( I do not have much knowledge of the technical side of the processes involved with the raw material ). Also the processing of the material into a tank e.g. the temperature and cooling during manufacture of the tank.
All polyethylene products can be recycled and used in non critical applications.
Vanglobe have a web site that may help you more www.vanglobegroup.com
Sorry for the delay in replying.
Regards
Sherry Seears
