Recycling spent poly tank
mailed-by gmail.com

Dear Eco Planit,

I notice you manufacture poly rainwater tanks and wondered if you could help me.I am wanting to buy a poly tank but would like to know if it can be recycled when it eventually is broken down by sunlight. I would like to think I was doing the right thing by the environment in buying a tank which can be recycled at the end of its life.

Thanks for your help
Don Matthews

RE: Recycling spent poly tank

Hi Don

Our tanks are manufactured from high quality food grade Polyethylene so recycling shouldn’t be a problem.

Currently none of the manufacturers offer a recycling programme but may do in the future. One of the professional recycling companies may take the tank or it may be worth a call to your local council.

Let me know if you require information on sizes and prices, we have hundreds of different poly tanks available.

An alternative may be using an Aquaplate tank. Made from Bluescope Colorbond material with additional layers on the inside to prevent corrosion and also a food grade polymer lining. They are available in a range of colours and many different size configurations all carrying a 20 year Bluescope warranty. Aquaplate tanks are a little dearer than poly tanks and will far outlast a poly and no recycling issues.

Regards
David
