My investigations began back in August 2008 with Leisa Donlan CEO of ARMA (Association of Rotomoulders Australia) at the first post 'The journey begins'. Posts in small type headings carry all emails relating to that particular manufacturer/supplier. Posts in capital headings focus on specific aspects The weblog is being added to, improved upon and evolving continually. It will form an evidence database together with a national platform for discussion and debate.

Dear Mitre 10 Brendan Danaher,
I believe you sell Teampoly plastic rainwater tanks and wondered if you could help me. I am thinking of buying a poly tank but would like to know if it can be recycled when it eventually is broken down by sunlight. I would like to think I was doing the right thing by the environment in buying a tank which can be recycled at the end of its life.
Thanks for your help,
Don Matthews

Hello Don,
I called Teampoly Water Tanks on your behalf and asked them about recycling of the tanks. They advised unless they get broken down, the tanks are recyclable. Otherwise they will last a very, very long time. If you wanted to look at their website it is http://www.teampoly.com.au/ . Don’t hesitate to contact us if you require a quote on a water tank you are interested in.
Kind regards,
Jo

Hello Jo,
Thanks for the information from Teampoly. From their advice it sounds like they can't be recycled once they are broken down by sunlight, however they will last a very long time as you say.
Thanks once again for your help

Hi Don,
Thanks for the inquiry, I have spoken to one of my tank suppliers (Melbourne Roto moulders) and he said that they have tested tanks in full sun in Queensland and after 18 years the tank has only slight surface degradation with an estimated life of 35+ years. He also said he can organize as a service to take tanks back to recycle.I hope this information is of some help to you, if you tell me what size you are after I can email you a quote.
